Great Blue Outfitters (aka GBO) is in Patterson, New York, in Putnam County. Both Putnam and neighboring Dutchess County to the north are ideally situated for outdoor recreation. Situated less than two hours from New York Citys Grand Central Terminal via Metro North (Harlem Line), we are close enough to the metropolitan area to be easily accessible while far enough away to have a wide variety of recreation options.  Want to go for a leisurely paddle? Or a hike on the Appalachian Trail? Perhaps you prefer two wheels: then how about mountain biking, or enjoying a quiet ride on the Harlem Valley Rail Trail? In snowy months maybe youd like to try out snowshoes on a local hiking trail. GBO can help you do this and more.

Great Blue Outfitters offers the following services:

• Pick up/Drop off at local Metro North stations. Of course, you can also drive right to GBO at 3198 Route 22, Patterson; see Directions page
• Canoe/Kayak rentals. We use Old Town Discovery canoes, and Necky Manitou kayaks (both solo and tandem). Paddles and PFDs included in rental fee
• Hiking/Camping equipment rental, including backpacks, tents, sleeping bags, water filters, cooking equipment, and stoves
• Cycling rental through Pawling Cycle and Sport
• Tubbs snowshoes and trekking poles
• Transportation to/from activity sites
• Retail store with snacks, drinks, shirts, hats, outdoorsy gifts, water bottles, cameras, a place to change clothes---plus Benders and Mighty World fun outdoorsy toys and the Wowie Zowie!

You bring appropriate clothes and footwear, and we take care of the rest. We will meet you either at our store in Patterson or at the Pawling or Patterson train station if requested; properly outfit you with the equipment you need; take you to the location; and pick you up at the location of your choice afterwards. If youre new to outdoor activities, a guide can be requested for an additional fee. Then its back to GBO and the train station at the end of your excursion, and youre home by dinnertime with a great day of outdoor fun to reflect upon.
